The Loud Ness Monster

It burps in the water pipes
It kicks cans in the street
It backfires out of engines
and knows not the meaning of discreet.

It bangs the next doors garden gate
It slams the neighbours doors
It howls around the chimney pots
and smashes things on floors.

It leans against the door bell
It thrashes upon the rocks
It roars and takes off overhead
and wears brightly coloured socks.

It fills articulated lorries
It rumbles in your belly
It pumps up every volume
and is as empty as a jelly.

It wears too much jewellery
It decorates its face
It's all around and everywhere
and never knows its place.

It sets off alarms and sirens
It rattles along on tracks
It stamps its feet and shouts
and comes in party popper packs.

It thrives on having arguments
It feeds on discontent
It devours the sound of silence
and keeps phones ringing with intent.

It visits all the building sites
It hurts inside every head
It brings a scream to horror films
and even snores in bed.

It defies every sighting
It aims to fight quite shy
It's never seen and always heard...
must be the Loud Ness Monster passing by.
