The Dragon and the Phoenix
sat side by side one day,
sipping cappuccinos
in a companiable way.
Said the Dragon to the Phoenix,
drawing closer to protect,
"I'll be with you on this journey
if you tell me what I can expect."
The Phoenix lit a cigarette,
considering carefully what to say.
"The journey's long and hazardous
fraught with dangers on the way.
I'd like to have you by my side,
if you're prepared to stay.
I'll tell you everything I know
and understand your need to go.
I'll tell you everything I've learned
and of rewards that can be earned.
But most of all I'll tell you,
if you be my protector, friend and guide,
in time you'll win my fiery passion
and a true lover by your side."
