In Vein (2)
There is something to be said
for leeches,
though what it is
I don't quite know.
Except for letting bad blood
flow away.
The most redeeming
features of the creeping, crawling
creatures include clinging
to the skin; thus sticking
to the outside, not
scratching on the in.
Herr Hoffman in Stuttgart
knew what he was at
when he bred the beasts
that feasts on sin, sucking
out the blood that
refuses to stay in.
And though famous far and
wide; throughout the world,
the medieval miracle of medicine
curled up and died
to soon;
before my time.
