Clapped Out Model

When the shock absorbers go,
the road has many bumps;
like going over bridges -
those ones with sneaky humps.
The steering wheel goes haywire,
the tyres lose their tread,
the pistons shake the engine
alignment from its bed.
The timing belt goes crazy,
the seating falls apart
and most often in the mornings
nothing wants to start.
The glass is cracked and hazy
so the road ahead is dim
and the chance of getting anywhere
is undeniably slim.
